Accessibility
Overview:
In attempt to be inclusive, I've attempted to design the site with the utmost of accessibility. Where there are some limitations within the context of Wix design capabilities, I'll usually execute viable workarounds.
Ways I'm supporting Accessibility:
-
Unique Ways:
-
Font: a low-vision friendly font
-
Creator: the Braille Institute.
-
Name: Atkinson Hyperlegible
-
Description: Its mostly "SANS SERIF", but integrates SERIF where needed to avoid ambiguity for all users (e.g. 1, l, I...), as well as exaggerates some lines to avoid ambiguities that emerge when characters are blurry.
-
Availability:
-
-
Images - Mitigating Wix Anomaly: Moving images outside bulleted context and linking to them, as Wix site breaks bulleting when images are used within them. Image then links back to the referring text, so you can jump back to where you left off.
-
-
General Ways
-
Text:
-
Contrast: High contrast text on backgrounds
-
Sizing:
-
Font: 16px for most text (sadly, rem/em's are not part of the Wix design)
-
Paragraph:
-
Spacing:
-
1.5x Paragraphs
-
2x Paragraph Spacing -- not inherent
-
-
Max/Min-Widths: for readability (cognitive)
-
max-width to 70ch or 650px
-
min-width to 40ch
-
-
-
-
-
Images: informative ALT text, when appropriate
-
Site Structure & Keyboard navigation
-
Top left to bottom right text/tab order.
-
Landmarks
-
Headings (instead of styling)
-
-
And more . . .

Accessibility Statement for Nate's Portfolio
-
This is an accessibility statement from Efficiency and Usability.
-
Conformance status
-
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Nate's Portfolio is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
